my art diary or how to make (or at least think about making) art while spending quality time with the day job, family, friends & dogs (not in any particular order)

Bob Dylan - All Along The Watchtower @ Ljubljana 13.06.2010 HD
we saw dylan last night. no photos at mr. d's request, but i did find this on you tube which is from the current (never ending) tour.
the amazing thing to me is that no song sounds the same twice. from what i've read, dylan loves to tour and to perform his music. he keeps it fresh by changing the phrasing or arrangement and with 40 years of amazing music the sets change nightly.
tickets were $52. for everyone. the venue probably holds 3000-4000 people. the guy sitting next to me had waited a long time to see bob- he had tickets in the 60s and the show was cancelled. there were lots of parents (and grandparents) with their kids.
i think about musicians who don't even put out new music & ask $300 per seat, or those who are still producing, are wealthy by any stretch of the imagination, and who still go to triple digits for ticket prices and compare with troubadors (and living legends who are still creating quality work) like dylan and willie nelson who come and do shows in small venues for a reasonable price and i know who i want to support. (yes, i'd pay those prices if i had the cash for a limited few, but by & large the bobs & willies impress me more).
for me, it's about getting back what you give, it's about having enough, not needing to amass more just to have it, but rather putting art out there for people at a reasonable price.
the show was incredible- the band is great, mr. dylan is great.
here's what we were treated to last night:
