long weekend!

hope everyone had a wonderful 4th! we headed out of town with some friends and had a great time. i messed up the pdanet connection the first morning out, so had no internet access til we got home (not that i had time to post anyway!).

a quick swing through the marsh saturday morning- it's drying up. on the way, stopped by the tree with the hawk nest. the king bird (right) was dive bombing the hawk for some reason. actually bonked it on the head a few times before the hawk flew off, with the king bird harrassing it.

the wildflowers are still blooming away- here's a sampler-

this is a crimson columbine. the buds reminding me of chinese lanterns-

potentilla (yellow) and forget me nots (blue)

syringa, idaho's state flower

mule's ears

sego lily

and another lovely sunset, setting the stage for some great fireworks

hope those of you in the us had a great fourth of july & that everyone else had a great weekend!

planning to get some art made this week, really!

Lovely flower photos and the sunset is amazing! Yes, it's hard to find time to make art during these busy holiday weekends.
