art & roses

this show is held annually and showcases original art from idaho artists living within 125 miles of boise. no crafts, no prints and a limited number of photographers.

it was a damp day. but traffic was pretty good. 71 artists signed up, 60 showed, not bad considering the 40% chance of rain/ maybe to include thunderstorms forecast.

here's our booth

my booth partner kristy. we've done this show together for the past few years- it's nice to have someone to talk to, and eat with (and have a margarita or sangria with) and to be able to give each other breaks. plus she makes me laugh and i love her art!

call me vanna.....

we both did OK. i made enough to pay for the new canopy i had to buy this year plus some more. sold a mixed media piece, a framed photo, some cards & a few unframed pieces. beats last year, when i sold a card!

and here's this...... after reading that it was bad to use crackle paste on a flexible ground such as canvas b/c chunks could flake off i put GAC 200 on (promotes adhesion & hardness) and it seemed to set up nicely. then a wash of mica oxide. pretty happy with it- this may be done.

and off to bed. lots to do tomorrow before heading out of town for a few days. hope you all had a great weekend!

Marianne (aka - Vanna) glad the show went well for you. That last heart is so interesting - I must have missed the process, but I like your finished product. Maybe the first time I saw it, it was something else entirely!

Love the heart, Miz Vanna!!! ;D
I've used crackle paste on softer surfaces before and sealed it with numerous hard coats. So far, so good!!! HAve not played with that in a while; I better open it and see if it is still usable....

XXOO!!
