stuck

one of those days where it just wasn't flowing...... took the dogs for a walk, the trail was muddy & we turned around & came home. i just had no energy- made chili and got some steel painted with the digital ground, but it was all hard....(except the chili, which was great with some homemade cornbread).

seems like i have all of these ideas to try, and i've been having fun playing, but i don't have any finished pieces. there's a juried show at the end of the month- that doesn't take digital- and i have one piece ready..... then we have gypsy gallery in december & i need new work for that. i can print some photos, but it would be nice to have some paintings or mixed media too.

first i tried some alcohol transfers on multimedia paper- no luck, then i realized i was using 3m transparencies instead of apollo.... no wonder! i have learned to let the dry overnight, so we'll try the apollo tomorrow

then tried a caulk transfer to one of the small pieces of steel- it was not successful......

so i decided to try a baby wipe background technique i read about (use the baby wipes in your mixed media too! there's a much better chance of that happening if i buy baby wipes without little flying lambies on them.....)

the wipe technique didn't work so well either (hard for me to do without mixing paint colors & getting mud. probably a practice thing- figure out how to best lay out the colors). but i did start sponging and layering (on the multimedia paper which the alkie transfer didn't work on) and ended up with a base i liked well enough to print on- here it is. i will look at it, may add a framing element over & under- maybe some medium with designs in it or something....

then there's this. i added a layer of glaze and a layer of matte medium and another glaze and here we are:

i like it, don't know if it's too distressed..... the right frame could help. i'll have to ask for input...

and lastly- i finally had an idea for these. i was going to try lazertran, but it scares me- i sort of like this idea, and looking for some charms to hang from the top. these could be fun. i need to order some sunprint paper to make some more hearts.

and i want to order some mulberry paper and maybe some lutradur because i have an idea about printing on them and coating with clear encaustic then rigging a frame to hang out from the wall to take advantage of translucency- something like an embroidery hoop. we'll see.....

but this all sounds like more experiment & less production..... guess it's just that way sometimes.....

bedtime- miss piggy needs to run in the morning!

OMG...where do I start? I love the the baby wipe background with those bright colors! I also like the wiping technique one. I love that muted look & it appears very pretty in your picture. Probably my favorite is that alcohol transfer scence with the layers. Too much distress? not at all. Really beautiful stuff.

thanks diane- i appreciate the feedback. sometimes i don't know if i like stuff just because i saw it through the process, if that makes any sense-
